Valga Museum is established in 1955 as local museum representing the South-East Estonian cultural heritage. Today Valga Museum is state museum, coordinated by Ministry of Culture.
The aim of Valga Museum is to maintain, study and intoduce the cultural and historical heritage of Valga County and to support the regional identity of local communities.
Valga County nature and history are introduced in the permanent exibition of museum in 6 halls. In the museums gallery the art exhibitions and contemporary displays are exhibited regulary.
More than 69 000 museal objects are mainatined in the museum storages. This materials are used by students, local historians and scientists.
