Permanent exhibition

The permanent exhibition on the second floor of the museum reflects the history of Valga County and the city from ancient times to the 20th century

In the Nature Hall, you can see animals and birds that are common for Estonia, a wolf's den, Helme caves, and more. In the hall depicting ancient times, you can explore the fortress of that era and many artifacts found in Valga County. The historical exhibition provides a brief overview of the history of the city and the county. It introduces in more detail the history of the Orthodox Church, achievements by Olympic champion Alfred Neuland, Battle of Paju, Stalin-era repressions, and development of Valga railway junction. A part of the permanent exhibition is also dedicated to everyday life during the Soviet era.
