Research

According to the statute, the main task of the Valga Museum is to be the preserver of local identity, a reliable memory institution, and an educational cultural institution. The museum's research activities are also based on these objectives, focusing on topics related to the peculiarities of our city and county, such as the history of Valga as a multicultural, border, and railway town, the relations and cultural contacts between Estonians and Latvians, etc.

The results of the research conducted at the museum have been presented to the public at lecture evenings, in the museum's yearbooks, and in the newspaper Lõuna-Eesti Postimees, Valga municipality newsletters, on the Valga Museum's website, and in virtual media.
