Small Exhibition on Civil Status Procedures in Valga
In the foyer of Valga Museum, from June 26th to July 19th, 2026, a small overview display is available, presenting civil status procedures in Valga in times past.
As July 1 marks one hundred years since the first appointment of civil registry officials in Valga with their main duties, the exhibition focuses especially on the era a century ago. On display are bridal garments from that time, copies of various document forms, excerpts from articles on family status from the Valga newspaper "Lõuna Eesti," and much more.
Of particular interest are the period albums received from Valga family officials, commemorating golden and silver wedding anniversaries. Also on display are historical photographs of Valga Town Hall, as over the past hundred years, Valga Town Hall has been the main place where ceremonial family events have been held.
