This summer, Valga Museum’s traditional festival SIGA RUKKIS (PIG IN RYE) is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great innovator Count Friedrich Georg Magnus von Berg and the 150th anniversary of his magnificent innovation project of the Sangaste Rye, as well as to broader history of agriculture in Valga County. The event will take place in Valga Säde Park and in the museum’s courtyard and premises on July 12th from 5 PM to 10 PM. The evening will be hosted and inspired by Artur Raidmets.
At 5 PM, workshops, lawn games, and exhibitions will begin. The Estonian Dairy Museum will demonstrate butter making and cow milking, the Estonian Rural Life Museum will introduce wool carding and flax processing, and Parmu Eco-Village Farm will offer horse coach rides. Among the lawn games are tug-of-war, stick pulling, and kettlebell lifting. There will also be a children's area and a café open.
At 6 PM, the theater group Poolvillased (Half-Woolen) will perform the cheerful play "Catching a Crane with an Axe."
At 8 PM, there will be a concert of cabaret songs featuring Artur Raidmets and Peeter Kaljumäe.
All traditional festival events will be held in Estonian.
